MY STORY

Anchor 1

My name is Glynn Rodgers and  I am a fully qualified BWDA instructor with almost 30 years experience of social line dancing. I began dancing in late 1996 at the age of 9 and passed my teacher training exams in 2005. I have been choreographing dances since 2004 under the name Glynn "Applejack" Rodgers, or "AJ" for short.

I began teaching in 2004 at the age of 17, under the name of Star Strutting Liners, when the previous instructor retired and I was asked to take over. I ran regular classes for the next few years, concentrating on beginner and improver level dancers.

With the arrival of my second child and the closure of my regular venue, I believed it was time to step down from teaching and concentrate on social dancing once again. I continued to teach in a limited capacity over the following years, covering other classes in the area and teaching my own choreography where possible.

In November 2017, I re-branded as "AJ Dance" and returned to teaching with the help of my wife, Katy.  I now run regular beginners, improver and intermediate classes and monthly socials aimed at all levels of dancers.

In 2024, I won the Crystal Boot Award for "Improver Dance of The Year" along with my co-choreographer, Heather Barton. The dance was called "When You're Drunk" and you can see a video by clicking here. A dream come true for any choreographer!
